Is Mac worth it anymore?

I bought my Dual 2 gig mac power pc in 06. After all the memory, 10k rpm hard drives, bells and whistles, i spent almost 5k, which equates to $1,250 a year to use the mac(i won’t even get into the fact that they dusted me right after i bought it with the intel switch) With these new intel 7’s, I can build a Pro tools LE specific pc with 8 cores for about $1,500!, and if i use it for 4 years, it’ll be $375 a year! I love the mac OSX(although i’m cut off at 10.5.8) I’m kinda POed about itgrrr

Quiet CPU Fan

I built a PC a few weeks ago (1st timer) and everything is working pretty well, except for the fact that my cpu fan is very noisy. I’m looking at replacing it now and I found a website that specializes in selling this kind of stuff. Just wondering if these cpu fans that are labeled as ‘quiet’, really are quiet.

Audio interfaces without mic pres?

I hate the fact that the mic pres on my audio interface have to go to waste if I decide that I want to buy a high end external mic preamp. Is the a way to buy a good audio interface without mic pres so that I can pick out my own mic pre and save on the price of buying an audio interface?
