Hey All, I own a Benchmark DA which I enter into via Optical SPIF from my cheap $20 sound card out the back of my PC. So I am wondering would it benefit me to get something like the Lynx AES PCI card if I am only looking for a sonic upgrade via the AES out rather than the cheap sound card. The Main question here...does the digital part of the chain really matter if you have a solid DA??

Greetings, First of all, I'm new to this forum, and I thought I'd register since I'm in the middle of gathering equipment and setting up my recording studio in my room :) I went through my dads stash and found a Mixim 10 mixer, which is rather compact and seems perfect for my use, since it has phantom power for the new condenser microphone I'm going to buy after I get some help from you guys setting it up on my computer  I've successfully managed to connect the mixer with my Crown Powertech 3 amplifier, but after trying it out a few times I figure it's too big and too much pwoer to use in my small little room . So, I decided to use the mixer as a pre-amp for my microphone instead
