Cure for clipping limiter?

Hi Guys, Ok, we all know now clipping is absolute killing in digital mixing but let;s say i have a channelstrip/bus (drums) which, with pre-fader metering on clips a lot. Will inserting a limiter at the end of this channelsstrip be the solution for this without other negative consequences
