Need help picking my first high end preamp/channel strip
May 11, 2010 Guitar, Recording
My budget is $3000. I’m looking for something very versatile that I can use to record bass di, synths, drum machines, and guitar (mic’d). I only need one channel.

May 11, 2010 Recording
I’ve been using a 2ba-221 for a couple years and lately it’s been getting sorta…metallic sounding on vocals.

Ensoniq DP/4 bypass issue
May 11, 2010 Recording
So, I picked up an Ensoniq DP/4 so I could get some effects on a “sub mix” coming out of an Ashly line mixer. Before I put it after the mixer, I thought I’d have fun with it on my Prophet 08. Immediately I heard a pronounced high frequency roll off when I put it in bypass

Getting my room sounding the best for live drums
May 11, 2010 Recording
Finally nearing the end of my studio construction (been going on for a year and a half now) I’ve got a live room of 15 x 20 with a cathedral ceiling to 12′, a flat span at the top of about 5′.

Acoustic Guitar Test – Your thoughts?
May 11, 2010 Guitar, Recording
Heya, I am working with a folk artist, and we are looking to capture acoustic guitar tones similar to Damien Rice and Jon Foreman. I am pleased with the overall quality; however, I feel that the guitar should have more body.

Delay & Echo Machines
May 11, 2010 Guitar, Recording
I’d love to get a thread going here where we can share some of our knowledge about currently made high end delay and echo devices that are devine and offer something unique as well as useful. These could be: Rack units Pedals Table top units Or any other type of construction Harware only, no software plug-ins for this one. Here is my contribution: Damage Control Timeline – amazing delay pedal that offers the ability to alter the color and texture of the delay repeats using real tubes, saturation and filtering.
