Good mix that has potential to be loud
May 9, 2010 Recording
Hello, I am a mix and recording engineer who still has a lot to learn. About 30% of my mixes are as loud as todays standard, but others are not. I’m starting to think that my mixes are not so always good for MEs to make loud…

Avocet hidden secrets 101

Just like to share this with all you Avovet owners It’s always bugged me that I can’t play more than one set of monitors at one time. However there seems to be a special sequence of button presses that enables multiple monitor outputs. try the following..

Pro-loudness war articles?
May 9, 2010 Recording
Hi everyone. Odd request here but does anyone know of any online articles from the viewpoint of someone who likes the amount of compression used in today’s masters? I’m writing a report for uni and could really do with someone who specifically says that they don’t see a problem with current mastering trends

Soundblade 2.0 when does it come ?
May 8, 2010 Recording
Im looking for a mastering daw for mac 10.6. Snowleo ! I tested peak pro 6 but it is buggy ! So i Read à Lot in this Forum about soundblade and its pros ! I checked the Demo and saw that there are Probst with my waves / spl / sonnox / … Plug ins !!! I wrote an Email to the Support of ss and they Said : “Regarding plug-ins, we have not been able to test SPL or Sonnox’s plug-ins but, we have been working with Waves to make sure our next version of soundBlade will function properly with their most common plug-ins.” But when does it come out ?

Best burner/software/media combo for redbook on OSX
May 8, 2010 Recording
Hi, I’m burning my redbook cds on a Mac Pro with an external Lacie d2 (older model, no Lightscribe), I work with Waveburner and I use Verbatim or Sony CDr media. Normally I burn at 25%-50% of the maximum media speed.

I’m trying to learn some eq’ing tricks ITB but I have a problem I couldn’t understand yet. I get this balanced-ish but dark sound compared to commercial albums, if I basicly brighten it with tilt sort of eq’ing then I lose the balanced sound I achieved at the mid’s.

A hardware emulation eq help’s a bit but I wonder if I used a wrong approach to Fletcher-Munson curves or need some type of saturation
