Weird gravely noise?

Last week, I ordered an SM58 to use for vocals and finally got it today (Absolutely love it, by the way). I hooked it up to the mixer my choral director is letting me borrow (A Behringer Eurorack UB802, and I believe it is one of the earlier models of it) and it was working fine for the first few hours of use.

I purchased a Profire 2626 a while back which i was initially happy with until I discovered this problem: Profire 610 serious recording bug. Not accurate As the thread on the M-Audio site explains, there is an issue with the profires that results in a serious random sample offset

Phantom Power problems

I wonder if anyone can help me with a phantom power related problem I’m having. I’ve recently bought an old 80s analogue desk (a MTR 12 to 8..very basic) and am simply running the desk’s outs into my Focusrite Saffire Pros line inputs. So technically just utilising the desks channel strips (which sound surprisingly good for a small desk!..nice and warm).
