Weird gravely noise?
May 11, 2010 Recording
Last week, I ordered an SM58 to use for vocals and finally got it today (Absolutely love it, by the way). I hooked it up to the mixer my choral director is letting me borrow (A Behringer Eurorack UB802, and I believe it is one of the earlier models of it) and it was working fine for the first few hours of use.

Connecting mixer to my PC.
May 7, 2010 Recording
Greetings, First of all, I’m new to this forum, and I thought I’d register since I’m in the middle of gathering equipment and setting up my recording studio in my room
I went through my dads stash and found a Mixim 10 mixer, which is rather compact and seems perfect for my use, since it has phantom power for the new condenser microphone I’m going to buy after I get some help from you guys setting it up on my computer
I’ve successfully managed to connect the mixer with my Crown Powertech 3 amplifier, but after trying it out a few times I figure it’s too big and too much pwoer to use in my small little room . So, I decided to use the mixer as a pre-amp for my microphone instead. I did manage connect the mixer to the computer with my Behringer XM1800S microphone, but I had this signal in the background whenever I did recording so I don’t know whether I did something wrong or what ti might be :laughings: My computer specs are as follows: CPU: Intel Core i7 (2.66GHz) Sound Card: ASUS Xonar DX RAM: 6gb Mixim 10 Manual: http://www.devicemanuals.com/guide/A…lRreE5UST.html Note: If this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move this post, but please PM me the new destination

Microphone for moist and moldy basement?
May 6, 2010 Recording
I’m thinking about making a little echo chamber in my basement. At the moment it’s really moist down there though, so I’ll be needing a mic that can handle rough conditions and still sound good as a room mic. I have an old Sennheiser MD211, a microphone that was supposedly used in the rescue of a group of mine workers trapped some 500 m below the surface in the late 50ies in Germany

Ableton Record Offset
May 6, 2010 Recording
I posted this on the ableton forum as well, but wondering if people here might have an answer…I’ve recently started to try and switch over most of my production to ableton for better transition to live performances…
