44.1 to 48 to DVD

Is it possible to record in 44.1 and then after mixing, convert the stereo mix to 48khz and then master to go on a DVD (with video). Will I get degradation? I tried riping an audio CD to 44.1 than convert to 48 and did not hear any deterioration.
