Preamp monitors as home theatre speakers

Hello Gearslutz, I know this might not be the right place for asking, but I know for sure that this is the right place to get the right answer 
I have KRK RP8 speakers and would like to use them for my home theatre system. My needs: – Being able to listen DVDs on my TV with the sound going trought the KRK. – Being able to plug an Ipod on the same system to used to speakers

44.1 to 48 to DVD

Is it possible to record in 44.1 and then after mixing, convert the stereo mix to 48khz and then master to go on a DVD (with video). Will I get degradation? I tried riping an audio CD to 44.1 than convert to 48 and did not hear any deterioration.

I’ve never needed to put a session on DVD before and am curious what you guys use to get sessions to DVD for either back up or for sending files snail mail.

I’ve never needed to put a session on DVD before and am curious what you guys use to get sessions to DVD for either back up or for sending files snail mail. I just dl some free cd burning software, but it doesn’t let you burn an entire PT session that contains data and audio files etc
