May 10, 2010 Guitar, Recording
I have been asked by a friend’s band to mix their upcoming album, something I don’t really have much experience doing.

Outboard Equipment for mastering
May 10, 2010 Guitar, Recording
I haven’t posted in a long while but Ive always gotten great advice here. My current issue is that I hate using plugins to master my songs. I am looking to switch to mastering using rackmount equipment instead of the plugins

Stereo vst confusion (ohmicide, trilian and others)
May 9, 2010 Recording
Often when i’m building up a track i use soft synths and v-fx that output in stereo. Later down the line i realise the mix is too crowded and i should have been using mono from the beginning for most sounds. My sequencer is Cubase sx3

One man band tracking methods. How do you do it?
I’ve been doing it for awhile but when it comes to bussing and transition it can get huge in track count. like do i use the same vocal chain with one aux or make a seperate aux with a few channels devoted to each for each transition? it can make for a lot of plugs and big track counts.

Compression – how to get started!
May 6, 2010 music production
Listen people! I still dont get compression! I cant figure out how to compress parts of the tune to sound right. Id like to sound almost as powerfull as on the radio although I know that without a good gear its almost impossible. (its unlikely) Nevertheless I still want to know how to use a compressor.
