Connect Digidesign RM-1 digitally

Hi all, I have a pair of the Digidesign/PMC RM-1’s and a MOTU 2408MK3, I am currently using the speakers via analog monitor out on the 2308, how would I go about connecting then digitally (they have a digital XLR and two ethernet ports? on the rear) I have never used digital to power speakers before, is there any benefits to it? Thanks in advance
