Heres an amazing technical drawing to show you what goes where and why: I only ever get 50/60hz hum when the AT4040 is plugged in and phantom power switched on and only from the mic. If I touch the XLR metal plugs the hum diminishes dramatically. The same goes for touching the metal rack face of the TC Konnekt.
