why the need of high – dynamic range converters on mastering cd’s?

hi guys. i start sayng “im a nooB”, still almost not “payed” for that
i just dont know, by my knowledge, why u should use something like a Prism AD-2 (130db) to record back the MASTER’ signal out of your manley slam! maybe, when u are gonna, in the end, convert it all at 16bit where u have 6*16=96db of dynamic range, for the cd-audio format. i’ve really miss something
i need someone to explain
