PRO-TOOLS HD a must in a commercial facility?
May 10, 2010 Recording
In todays world of multi-core processors and super fast computers is PT HD really a must in a commercial facility? There are some many awesome DAW systems out there and file interchange is not a problem anymore, why have PT HD when you can offer a powerful Nuendo, Logic, the new Soundscape 6 or different solutions to your clients? Of course a trained operator must be included but why always pro-tools?

need quick help:AT4050 or Shure KSM32?
Hello everyone, I’ve just got a great offer for both mics second-hand and for almost the same price.I own an SM7b (loving it) and an AT4040 (great sound but nothing special compared to the SM7) and an ISA One also gonna get a GAP Pre73 pretty soon. I am mainly recording rap and rnb and reggae vocals. Sometimes accoustic guitar but that’s occasionally.(the AT4040 is great for accoustic guitar) I have to make my decision until monday so I would greatly appreciate your opinions to which mic you would suggest from these two for rap and rnb-reggae vocal recordings.confoosedkfhkh

Commercial studios with in studio lodging for band/artist

Hey everyone, just wondering the way folks approach this. Who has a studio with attached living quarters for out of town bands staying for a month or so (or more) to do entire albums? Has it proved satisfactory

kick drum microphone hunting
May 5, 2010 Recording
Tried the standard AKG D112 many times and found it to be un-naturally boomy in the bottom. Tried the Beyer M88 TG over the years and though more natural than the AKG, I found that there was something just not quite right about how the kick drum sound was translating. Some drums sounded good while others just did not like this mic

Mar 5, 2010 Guitar
I am considering this Gibson Reverse Flying V Limited Edition Electric Guitar, looks the lowest price on the internet. But i’d like your opinions, is it worth the money?
