Rig-Talk • Re: Should I get a Furman and get into racks in general?
May 10, 2010 Guitar
I’m planning to build a rack sometime soon, but still keep effects that need control on the pedalboard. I’m going to upgrade the pedal EQ, tuner, and noise gate to better rack versions and downsize the board, but I’m uncertain about what else I’ll need.

In praise of the AT4033
May 6, 2010 Recording
I saw that Alan Parsons gives a shout out to the lowly AT4033. I second! This mic’s a real sleeper. Versatile– I’ve used my pair for everything over the years– and it takes lead vocal duty over my U87 for at least half my projects

kick drum microphone hunting
May 5, 2010 Recording
Tried the standard AKG D112 many times and found it to be un-naturally boomy in the bottom. Tried the Beyer M88 TG over the years and though more natural than the AKG, I found that there was something just not quite right about how the kick drum sound was translating. Some drums sounded good while others just did not like this mic
