Torrent Finder Uses Homeland Security Site Seizures To Con The Web

Bogus viral marketing stories are nothing new – remember the 13 year old who stole his father’s credit card and booked a hotel room and prostitutes to play XBox. Well. the latest online scam story is the seizure of Torrent Finder – one which I was taken in by yesterday, writing ” Homeland Security Seized Torrent Domain That Gave Same Results Google Still Does .” The New York Times and many prestigious newspapers reported the story, TV stations and news sites in at least five other languages I could find doing a Google News search were also taken in by this scam

Homeland Security Seized Torrent Domain That Gave Same Results Google Still Does

Homeland Security with help from ICANN has seized the domain of a torrent search site and posted a notice stating: “This domain name has been seized by ICE Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by a United States District Court under the authority of 18 U.S.C. 981 and 2323.” 18 USC covers civil forfeiture of property real and personal for various legal infringements

Google Quality Score Problems Creating Havoc With Adwords

Problems with the Quality Scores in Google Adwords were first noticed late last month and were fixed, according to Google, but now they appear to be having problems again. Late October the Google Adwords help forum noted there were problems with Quality Scores – which Google claimed were merely reporting issues and would not impact prices of clicks.
