For months, people have been sending me examples of search snippets that clearly broke that rule, like this one (on a search for “hummingbird food”): For the record, this one clocks in at 317 characters (counting spaces). A couple weeks ago, Google began showing Emoji characters in desktop search results after years of showing them in the mobile results. Surprise, surprise, Google will be dropping them soon from the search results – at least the desktop results.
