Fans of Gmail likely know that the service allows for simple video chatting directly in your browser. While the Gmail-based video and voice chat isn’t seen as a strong competitor with industry leaders like Skype, the technology being used demonstrates some capabilities – and implied possibilities – for Google. It seems those possibilities are now coming to fruition, thanks to the WebRTCsoftware purchased by Google last year.
